In the face of increasing demand, warehouse space is becoming increasingly inadequate. One reason is the continued growth of internet shopping. Statista estimates that revenues in B2B transactions alone will grow from €40 billion in 2018 to €46 billion this year. Hyster’s space-saving solutions can help utilize every square foot of usable space in the warehouse.
In the early 1970s, the construction of high-bay warehouses led to the production of specialized narrow-aisle forklifts that allowed companies to optimize their storage capacity. Today, many companies are forced to increase their storage space with an unchanging floor plan by the ever-growing internet market.
Optimize available space
Used in supermarkets and retail stores, Hyster® VNA and high-lift order pickers are particularly suitable for transporting and storing loads in narrow aisles.
In warehouses, a typical forklift may need just over 50 percent of the floor area to maneuver. Therefore, using narrow aisle forklifts or higher rack warehouses may be the most cost-effective solution.

Warehouse equipment solutions for efficient work
Depending on the model, the powerful narrow aisle Hyster® C1.0-1.5 forklift series can lift loads up to a maximum of 1,500 kg and has a lift height of almost 17 metres. These forklifts are also suitable for transporting products of unusual shape and size.
For example, we offer a specially configured model to handle long and large loads. We’ve equipped the narrow-aisle forklift with a longer fork that can handle odd loads even two meters long.

A good example of Hyster developing space-saving logistics solutions is the use of narrow-aisle forklifts in a semi-automatic high-bay warehouse of a textile logistics company. At the heart of the operation are four reliable Hyster® C1.3 narrow aisle forklifts that are driven to stay in their lane using a sophisticated induction system. This makes it possible to save space by minimizing the side distance to the shelves.
The clever design of the forks on the models in this series helps balance the load, making it one of the most compact and robust in the industry. If the articulated fork is pushed to the side, an integrated pantograph automatically opens so the forklift can maneuver even in the narrowest aisles with maximum lateral play.
Store pallets at eye level
When storing and receiving pallets, the operator has an optimum view, at the same height as the products. This can reduce damage and increase efficiency over solutions where the operator is working under load.
Hyster® CANbus communication system and temperature control systems minimize maintenance by using powerful and reliable encapsulated three-phase motors. Effective energy management also ensures a long service life and low operating costs. Hyster® narrow aisle forklifts and Hyster® reach trucks are manufactured at the Italian factory in Masate, near Milan.
Truck for confined spaces
The Hyster® Reach Truck with tilting lift was originally designed for retail applications and is now used by many businesses in e-commerce warehousing. With a lift height of up to 7.5 meters, a small chassis and a lifting capacity of up to 1,400 kg, the forklift is ideal for use in tight spaces. Models R1.0E, R1.2E and R1.4E are equipped with a tilt lift so that the operator does not have to reach far when stacking and retrieving pallets from the rack.
Hyster® Reach Trucks with tipping mast are equipped with the same high-quality operator compartment as other Hyster Reach trucks, providing excellent visibility across the mast and overhead guard. However, they also feature numerous ergonomic improvements that increase driver comfort. Various driver support options such as the Hyster® Tracker Fleet Management System and a choice of battery sizes are available, as well as a power supply that can be individually adjusted according to the time and load requirement of the mission.
Cost-effective solutions for indoor storage
We have developed the compact S1.0E-1.2E series pedestrian stackers especially for companies that need a stacker with good maneuverability in tight spaces. With a lifting capacity of up to 1.2 tons, these stackers are suitable for everyday warehouse operations in less intensive applications, with a very good price-performance ratio.

IT-assisted planning for optimum product logistics
The prerequisite for making the best possible use of available space in a warehouse is efficient planning. To facilitate this, Hyster has designed a simulation software tool that can take into account space constraints and identify solutions that deliver the required throughput at peak times with a low total cost of ownership.
